THIS SUNDAY, JOIN ALL THINGS REAL ESTATE RADIO SHOW HOST REY POST AND HIS GUESTS, AS THEY UNDERSCORE HOW REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS RELY UPON FACTS, INFORMATION AND A CODE OF ETHICS WHEN CONDUCTING CLIENT WORK.

By Rey Post
Associate Broker, Sotheby’s International Realty
Host of the “All Things Real Estate” Radio Show
April 24, 2022

The “All Things Real Estate radio show airs this Sunday, April 24 (12-2pm Mountain Time) on Santa Fe’s Talk 1260 AM KTRC and 103.7-FM, and streams on SantaFe.com, as well as via the “Listen Now” link at ATREradio.com.

This weekly radio show features host and Sotheby’s International Realty’s Associate Broker Rey Post (NM REC License #45660), as well as a variety of special guests who offer news, information, and commentary on current real estate, business, and community issues, important to homeowners, buyers, and sellers.

In the first hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host—Bonnie Davis, Professional Community Association Manager with homeowner association management company, Westgate Properties, LLC.

This Sunday marks the 222nd anniversary—April 24, 1800—of the approval by President John Adams, of an act of Congress that appropriated $5,000 for the purchase of books to be housed in the U.S. Capitol. This action essentially created the Library of Congress, making it the oldest federal cultural institution in the nation, which today houses collections that comprise the world’s most comprehensive record of human creativity and knowledge.

Since all libraries are important defenders in the fight against misinformation—by providing free access to educational, news, and historical resources—they help keep the public informed with facts, rather than confused with fiction.

Marking the creation of the Library of Congress, Rey and his guests will underscore how real estate professionals rely upon facts, information, and the principles of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, when conducting client work (integrity, competency, and accountability).

Community Association Management Update:

Bonnie will reflect on the show’s theme, and will also offer a review of the ways—in April 2022—that Westgate Properties, LLC is assisting the residents of the more than 70 homeowner (HOA) and condo (COA) association communities that the company manages in Northern New Mexico. Bonnie will also summarize the elements of the second hour of the show that she hosts. Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Westgate Properties, LLC specializes in the management of multi-tenant commercial properties and homeowner associations. Their goal is to promote community through highly responsive management with the aim that quality of life, quality of work and the value of one’s real estate investment is improved. Bonnie, her colleagues Tom Simon—the owner of Westgate Properties, LLC—and Dave Mansure, as well as their regular second hour guest commentators, have returned to the ATRE radio show in 2022, to offer valuable real estate input on the last Sunday of each month.

Rey’s “Real Estate Recommendation”:

Rey’s weekly real estate recommendation offers information on a variety of timely home buying and selling, community and business issues that impact the lives and work of consumers and real estate professionals. Rey’s commentary will include observations on the element of broker teamwork, and the professional assistance the marketing and administrative staff at the Santa Fe office of Sotheby’s International Realty bring to their interaction with the company’s brokers and clients.

Broker Reflections On This Week’s Featured Property:

Rey will review the attributes of 5 East Avenida Sebastian with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Tim Galvin. Rey and Tim will also discuss the state of the real estate market in late April. Regarding Tim’s listing—This is a very comfortable “Lock & Leave” garden home with no steps and a large, fully landscaped back yard in the Villas at Los Santeros, an intimate enclave of 17 homes in the gated Santa Fe neighborhood of Las Campanas. The main house features two bedrooms and two full baths, plus a spacious open concept kitchen/dining/living plan with a fireplace, and a tongue-and-groove ceiling with beams. The kitchen includes granite counters, Jenn-Air stainless appliances, and a spacious island for entertaining. The master suite offers double sinks and a separate soaking tub and shower. Inside the private interior courtyard is a detached guest casita with a ¾ bath. A fabulous roof-top deck offers panoramic views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A golf, or social membership is available to the home buyer, through a separate purchase from The Club at Las Campanas.

In the second hour of the show, join Bonnie Davis and her special guests, for a discussion of “Fair Housing.” For the entire hour, Bonnie will be joined by one of her regular monthly content providers—Lynn Krupnik, of the law firm Krupnik & Speas, PLLC. Besides offering her thoughts on the second hour show theme, Lynn will also share other useful legal updates for the members of New Mexico homeowner and condominium association communities.

Bonnie will also be joined by her other monthly content providers, as they address the theme of this second hour program:

  • Insurance Advice: Vincent Marciano, of theADV Insurance Agencywhose firm specializes in community association insurance needs—will also offer his monthly insurance counsel on other matters of interest to home owners.
  • Landscape Update: Sean Gabriel, ofProscape Landscape Management, will share his latest suggestions on landscaping maintenance in community associations.

In the first hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host Kevin Skelly, principal at home construction firm K.M. Skelly, Inc. and their guests, for a Super Bowl-inspired discussion of real estate and business issues.

The Super Bowl is the annual playoff championship game of the National Football League (NFL), having been played since 1966. Super Bowl LVI will be played at SoFi Stadium located in Inglewood, CA, with kick-off at 4:30pm (Mountain Time), and features the best team from the American Football Conference (Cincinnati Bengals), playing against the best team from the National Football Conference (Los Angeles Rams). Kevin Skelly will address the theme of the show, and will also review how he and his team bring their skill, experience and considerable attention to every detail in the process of designing and constructing homes for their clients in 2022. To their client activities, Danny and his colleagues bring entertainment-related knowledge working for, or owning record stores, night clubs, production companies, and recording studios. Danny will share information on how he and his business partner, Truewill Mashburn, specialize in providing not only residential, but also commercial custom technology solutions for their clients. The different backgrounds of the Lucky Dog team contribute to a unique end result: their ability to customize their clients’ home for audio, A/V, home automation, networking, and home lighting based on their particular specifications and circumstances. They understand how architecture, design, engineering, acoustics, and technology can all work together to craft a certain outcome. As a certified instructor of real estate in New Mexico, Steve will also offer some thoughts on why consumers should strive to partner with well-educated real estate professionals.

In the first hour of the show, join Rey and his special guests, Gregg Antonsen, retiring Senior Vice President and Brokerage Manager, and Drew Lamprich, the new Vice President and Qualifying Broker of the Sotheby’s International Realty Santa Fe operations. Rey, Gregg, and Drew will discuss a variety of current real estate issues, including the major role that the brokers of Sotheby’s International play, as they bring professional services to home buyers, and sellers in northern New Mexico. In the fall of 2021, Gregg Antonsen announced that—after more than 40 years of service—he would retire. Gregg is retiring on a high note, with the Santa Fe Brokerage closing approximately $1.2 billion in volume in 2020, tripling its volume since 2010.

Broker Reflections and Property of the Week

Rey will review the attributes of 108 La Loma Plaza with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Katherine Blagden. Rey will also ask Katherine to reflect on the state of the real estate market as we continue through the fall season. Regarding Katherine’s listing–Located in the La Loma Plaza historic district and walkable to everywhere in central Taos, this two-bedroom, one-bath adobe was built circa 1795 and is on the National Register of historic places. Portions of “Casa Grantham” may date to the establishment of the original Taos Plaza. Perhaps Kit Carson hung out here! Entering through a blue gate and into a private walled front courtyard with a huge ancient shade tree, one enters another era with the thick adobe walls, wide plank floors, ancient vigas and roughhewn split cedar ceilings, sweet nichos and kiva fireplaces. This special home is authentic and classic old New Mexico. The main bedroom is large and has lovely views to Taos Mountain as well as a cozy gas fireplace for heat. There is a large closet/laundry area adjacent and a full bath. The second bedroom would also make an intimate study or office with bookshelves. This leads into the living room with a corner kiva and access to the sweet eat in kitchen with a very special tiny fireplace by the dining table, butcher block counters, gas stove and access to the large back yard with plenty of room to add a garage or casita. The back yard is South facing with some more mountain views, and a small storage shed that is attached to the house. Truly a Taos treasure of a home!

In the second hour of the show, join Rey and his special guest Ned Jacobs from the Quezada Jacobs Family Allstate Insurance Agency. Besides reflecting on the show theme, Ned will also share an abundant amount of information on a variety of insurance related matters of importance to home owners, buyers, sellers and renters. Rey and Ned will not only review the value of home insurance, and other products that offer protection and manage risk, but will give attention to the Allstate/Costco protection plan. In addition, Ned will offer some thoughts on not only the future of insurance, but also Allstate’s process of relying upon analytics to help streamline insurance policies. The Quezada Jacobs Family Allstate Insurance Agency, offers a range of products including home, condo, renter, auto, life and business insurance, designed to protect a consumer, personally and financially.

Last month, Gregg announced that–after more than 40 years of service–he has decided to retire. He is doing so on a high note after leading the Santa Fe brokerage to closing approximately $1.2 billion in volume in 2020, tripling the brokerage’s volume since 2010, ultimately securing a greater market share than the next two local competitors combined.

Rey will ask Gregg to reflect on his decades of work in real estate, including the highlights of his career, as well as how the real estate industry has changed over the years. Besides congratulating Gregg on his years of service, Clifford Siegel, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Financial Officer of Sotheby’s International Realty, recently stated that he was “…incredibly thankful for the talented team that Gregg has mentored,” at the Santa Fe brokerage. In this project, Abenicio will also advocate for the enactment of legislation to elevate financial literacy from an elective to a graduation requirement.

Their representatives regularly contribute commentary to the radio show and content to the ATRE blog (roster of current supporters on homepage at atreradio.com).

Besides airing from the KTRC studio, the ATRE show has also broadcast remotely from more than 100 unique locations, including: real estate broker open houses; non-profit events and major public gatherings such as the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association annual “Home Show” and “Haciendas, A Parade of Homes” tour; the Santa Fe Concorso rare car gathering; and locations in Northern New Mexico during the 2019 airing of the show’s monthly series, “This Is Taos.”

The ATRE program was nominated in 2011 for a Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award; was designated a national “Newsmaker” by RISMedia, the #1 source in the U.S. for residential news and information, and has been profiled in multiple media stories, as well as the corporate newsletter of Sotheby’s International Realty®.

How The ATRE Show Has Grown:

The ATRE show has grown from solely focusing on real estate issues, to a program that now offers timely business, community, cultural and non-profit commentary (always with a thread of real estate running through each broad-cast). Rey and his collaborators use the ATRE show as a place to create a “story” about a variety of issues, offering themes around special calendar dates, and events that enhance the show’s content for its listeners.

The radio show has been honored to feature not only some of the best in the real estate trade, but also a variety of non-real estate personalities. To illustrate the diverse content the ATRE show has offered over the years, a handful of these special radio show guests include: former CIA operative Valerie Plame; movie producer and Kevin Costner business partner, Jim Wilson (“Dances with Wolves”); actors starring in the movie “50 To 1” (filmed in New Mexico); former Director of the CBS News Poll, Kathy Frankovic; Indianapolis 500 race car legends Johnny Ruther-ford, Parnelli Jones, and Al Unser, Sr; and former National Association of Governors Chairman, Vermont Governor Jim Douglas. In addition, since he was elected in 2018, Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber has been a regular guest on the ATRE program, offering timely information on business, community and real estate issues important to the residents of the city.

The ATRE website and blog have also become valuable destinations for information on the radio show’s broad-casts, as well as timely real estate, cultural and community information. The corporate office of Sotheby’s International Realty® is fully aware of the ATRE program, with the former president of the company coincidentally being at the Santa Fe brokerage office the day in 2011, that the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award nomination for ATRE was announced.
