This weekly radio show features host and Sotheby’s International Realty’s Associate Broker Rey Post (NM REC License #45660), as well as variety of special guests who offer news, information and commentary on current real estate, business, and community issues, important to homeowners, buyers and sellers.

The “All Things Real Estate” (ATRE) radio show meets the standards established by the New Mexico Department of Health as an “essential business” (real estate-related and radio service), as defined in the state’s March 23, 2020 public health emergency order relating to the presence of coronavirus. As such, ATRE is committed to bringing timely and informative content to the public from some of the nation’s best business, non-profit, community, and real estate leaders. The guest commentators on this week’s show are emblematic of the quality of professionals who have helped to make ATRE a destination that people from all over the country turn to each Sunday.

In the first hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host John Grisak, the owner of three roof restoration companies, including Fix My Roof, LLC, for a special discussion that includes an acknowledgement of a national observance occurring on September 13.

This Sunday is National Grandparents Day, first declared a national observance in 1978, by President Jimmy Carter. Grandparents Day honors the love only grandparents can provide to children, and is an opportunity to treasure that connection and spend some quality family time together. These caring and patient people offer more than just a generous dose of love. Grandparents also provide an abundance of wisdom, guidance and stability. Though there are clearly health-related challenges among the elderly during our Covid-19 experience, many publications observe that grandparents are playing an even larger starring role in multigenerational home life these days.

2020 Roofing and Home Maintenance Update:

John Grisak, President of Fix My Roof, LLC, will speak to not only the theme of the show, but also how he and his work team continue to address the social distancing needs of our current circumstances, as they bring services to their clients. John will also review roof restoration issues important to the residential and commercial clients he serves, during September and going into the fall and winter. In addition, John will update the audience on not only the cutting-edge procedures and products that his company uses in roof restoration, but also the services offered by his other companies—Fiddler Roofing NM, and Zia Insulated Foam Roofing. Fix My Roof, LLC, is committed to restoring existing roofs for a fraction of the cost of roof replacement while maximizing a positive impact on the environment by embracing environmentally responsible practices and educating the greater community about environmental stewardship. Headquartered in Santa Fe, John’s three roofing companies have completed both residential and commercial jobs in Santa Fe, Los Alamos, El Dorado, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Cochiti, Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Silver City, and many more locations. John, a long-time supporter of “All Things Real Estate,” has returned to the radio show in 2020, as one of the program’s most trusted content providers.

Home Builder Review:

Kevin Skelly, Graduate Master Builder and Principal at home construction firm K.M. Skelly, Inc., will speak to the show theme, and also update the listeners on his ongoing efforts to manage his work in a safe and secure fashion, while dealing with our coronavirus situation. Also included in the conversation will be an update of Kevin’s roster of residential building projects in 2020. K.M. Skelly, Inc., has perfected a strategy that concentrates on customer service and quality products by giving attention to the details in every project. Kevin Skelly is a Certified Green Professional and a Graduate Master Builder with over 35 years of industry experience. Living in Santa Fe for more than 20 years, Kevin has developed a love for Santa Fe style that incorporates simple lines and reflects the landscape’s natural beauty. Accepting a limited number of projects each year, K.M. Skelly, Inc., is able to build a lasting trust with every client, transforming their visions into reality. Kevin is continuing his commentator role in 2020 on the “All Things Real Estate” radio show, offering his valuable and well-regarded observations on a variety of home construction issues.

Rey’s “Real Estate Recommendation”:

Rey’s weekly real estate recommendation will offer information on the ongoing efforts of Sotheby’s International Realty to address the needs of home buyers and sellers, as the coronavirus situation continues. Rey will also share some thoughts on an ongoing element of teamwork, that he and all of his broker colleagues subscribe to. Specifically, that the marketing and administrative staff at the Santa Fe office of Sotheby’s International Realty are offering an even greater level of professional assistance to the company’s brokers and clients, during this exceptionally challenging period of time.

Broker Reflections and Property of the Week:

Rey will review the attributes of 480 San Antonio, Unit #C with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Tim Galvin. Rey will also ask Tim to reflect on how coronavirus has impacted his personal life, and real estate work. Regarding Tim’s listing–this fine residence in the San Antonio Compound is located in the Historic Eastside of Santa Fe, and is close to everything, but quietly tucked away off of Acequia Madre. This three-bedroom, two-bath adobe and frame construction home, by respected builder Jay Parks, has never been offered for sale, and blends timeless Santa Fe charm with modern amenities. The home includes numerous features, including seven fireplaces, hand-troweled plaster walls, coved ceilings with vigas, beams, and corbels, arched doorways, nichos, rustic antique doors, skylights, tile and hardwood floors (no carpet), A/C, radiant in-floor heat, and a two-car attached garage with ample guest parking. The great room includes an impressive fireplace and access to covered back portal area with its own fireplace and room for entertaining. The kitchen offers top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, a cozy corner fireplace and a casual dining area with French doors to the front entry courtyard with fountain, fireplace and BBQ. The master bedroom includes a retreat area, en-suite bath with walk-in closet and access to back portal area. The two guest bedrooms are separated from the master for privacy. This home has it all, location, adobe construction, plus Santa Fe style with modern amenities.

In the second hour of the show, join Rey for a special interview of the Mayor of Santa Fe, Alan Webber. Becoming the 43rd mayor of Santa Fe winning with a landslide victory on March 6, 2018, Alan is known as a successful entrepreneur and author and has considerable experience in local, state and Federal government activities. Alan has worked as the Editorial Director of the Harvard Business Review; ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of New Mexico in 2014 (finishing second in a field of five candidates); and in 1995, co-founded the technology business magazine, Fast Company, where he was named Adweek’s Editor of the Year in 1999. In his fourth interview of 2020 on “All Things Real Estate,” Alan will engage in a discussion with Rey on a variety of issues important to the residents of the city including:

  • Update on the city’s efforts to address the ongoing Covid-19 challenge.
  • Review of the city’s current economic and budget situation.
  • Address key real estate and development issues in Santa Fe.
  • Assessment of the city’s future, and its important role in our nation and world.

This weekly radio show features host and Sotheby’s International Realty’s Associate Broker Rey Post (NM REC License #45660), as well as variety of special guests who offer news, information and commentary on current real estate, business, and community issues, important to home owners, buyers and sellers.

The “All Things Real Estate” (ATRE) radio show meets the standards established by the New Mexico Department of Health as an “essential business” (real estate-related and radio service), as defined in the state’s March 23, 2020 public health emergency order relating to the presence of coronavirus. The guest commentators on this week’s show are emblematic of the quality of professionals who have helped to make ATRE a destination that people from all over the country turn to each Sunday.

In the first hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host John Grisak, the owner of three roof restoration companies, including Fix My Roof, LLC, and their guests, for a special discussion that relates to an historic event.

On July 12, 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower proposed a committee to develop a plan for our nation’s interstate highway system. In what many consider to be the greatest public works project of all time, the national highway system was eventually authorized by Congress, with its construction ultimately linking our entire nation, and touching the lives of every American citizen. For this Sunday’s ATRE show—and as a metaphor for this historic occasion of 66 years ago—Rey, John and their guests will speak to how we all are trying our best to “pave” a new road for ourselves, as we deal with coronavirus, and other matters impacting our lives at this historic point in history.

2020 Roofing and Home Maintenance Update:

John Grisak, President of Fix My Roof, LLC, will speak to not only the theme of the show, but also how he and his work team continue to address the social distancing needs of our current circumstances, as they bring services to their clients. John will also review roof restoration issues important to the residential and commercial clients he serves, during the summer months. In addition, John will update the audience on not only the cutting-edge procedures and products that his company uses in roof restoration, but also the services offered by his other companies—Fiddler Roofing NM, and Zia Roofing.

Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, LLC, Update:

Donna Jones White, Owner and Qualifying Broker of Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, LLC, will offer some observations on the show’s theme, and also remind the audience about her company’s role in maintaining a collection of rental options for not only vacation guests, but also those who choose to come to Santa Fe and are seeking a furnished 30-day or long-term unfurnished property. Consumers from around the globe turn to Donna’s company to aid them in finding comfortable and high-quality residences for their stays in our community. As one of the most popular commentators over the years on the “All Things Real Estate” radio show, Donna has returned in 2020 to offer her monthly observations on a variety of important Santa Fe real estate and business issues.

Rey will review the attributes of 14 Brahma Lane with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Drew Lamprich. Rey will also ask Drew to reflect on how he pursues his work, while continuing to deal with the impact of coronavirus. Regarding Drew’s listing—he wants to introduce The Shadow House, located in Santa Fe, and the winner of six AIA regional awards: Intellectual, contemporary design by architect Antoine Predock playing on the relationship between light and shadows to create an ever-changing interior mood. The 24-foot-high entry features a massive suspended glass cube, accented by ribbons of light from long, slender skylights, glowing fiber-optics at night. A tiny portal beams in light to signal the winter solstice in the entry tower. Anchoring the house, a unique water feature courses down a 24-foot x 30-foot gently sloping courtyard of ancient Chinese pavers and evokes the sound of a mountain stream. A central 80-foot hallway, eminently suitable for artwork, leads to a large glass door framing Chicoma Peak to the west. The spacious living / dining room highlights the interplay of light and shadow, faces the courtyard water feature, and has a striking fireplace, flanked by two tall glass display cases. Adjacent to the kitchen is a multi-purpose den leading to the upper end of the courtyard and thence to an outside patio. The kitchen is the epitome of form + function, with a central stone island and complimented by a spacious butler’s pantry. The master bedroom suite has an ingenious master bathroom with custom basaltina tub and built-in reclining chaise, and is privately located from the guest suite. The essence of the interior, including a Zen courtyard facing the tatami alcove off the master bedroom, appeals to those with a contemplative, academic side. The private, wood-lined office has a full bathroom and walk-in closet, adaptable as a third bedroom. Superb attention to detail and choice of materials is evident throughout the house—from the patinated copper wall along the entry corridor to the guest suite, the overhead louvres along the central hallway oriented to give maximum light in winter and minimum in summer, Philippe Starck steam shower with glass surround.

In the second hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host Kevin Skelly, Graduate Master Builder and Principal at home construction firm K.M. Skelly, Inc., for a continuation of the first hour theme of how we are trying our best to “pave” a new road for ourselves, as we deal with coronavirus, and other matters impacting our lives at this historic point in history. Kevin will speak to how he and his home design and construction team are continuing in their client efforts, while observing social distancing requirements dictated by our current health situation. Living in Santa Fe for more than 20 years, Kevin has developed a love for Santa Fe “style” that incorporates simple lines and reflects the landscape’s natural beauty. Accepting a limited number of projects each year, K.M. Skelly, Inc., is able to build a lasting trust with every client, transforming their visions into reality. Kevin, is continuing his commentator role in 2020 on the “All Things Real Estate” radio show, offering his valuable and well-regarded observations on a variety of home construction issues.

Real Estate Broker Observations: Speaking to the show theme, and continuing his month-long observations this January, Rey will offer some new thoughts on the focus of real estate brokers, as they work with home buyers and sellers in 2020.
Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association News: Rey will be joined by Jason Rogers, the 2020 President of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association (SFAHBA), and a member of the team of professionals at Santa Fe’s premier high end appliance dealer—Sierra West Sales—for a discussion of home construction issues important to the agenda of the members of the SFAHBA. Jason will also offer a summary of the SFAHBA’s major public events in 2020, including the staging of the “Home Show” on March 14-15, as well as highlighting the elements of this year’s edition of the nationally-known “Haciendas, A Parade of Homes” tour staged in August. As we enter the New Year, Jason will also offer a review of what he hopes to accomplish in 2020, as he leads the SFAHBA. For the 10th year in a row, the SFAHBA is continuing in 2020 as a corporate supporter of, and content provider for, the “All Things Real Estate” radio show. As a reminder, tune in to the SFAHBA’s weekly radio show “Green Building”—airing just before the “All Things Real Estate” program—at 11 am (Mountain Time) each Sunday on KTRC’s 1260AM and 103.7FM (also heard at the same time via the “Listen Now” link at ATREradio.com).

Rey’s “Real Estate Recommendation”: Rey’s weekly real estate recommendation will offer some suggestions on how to make the home buying and selling process a bit easier, more efficient and less time consuming for consumers. In June, All Things Real Estate (ATRE) marked 10 years of airing to home owners, buyers, sellers, and renters located in communities across the nation. New elements have been added to the ATRE program throughout 2019. This Sunday’s show offers one of the new program additions—the next edition of the “This Is Taos” show series.

Each month, the series offers two hours of interviews with business, tourism, government, cultural, and real estate leaders who bring useful and informative commentary about why the historic Town of Taos is a popular destination for visitors from around the world, as well as why people select the community as the place to call home. The monthly show is presented by the Taos Ski Valley and fully supported by the Town of Taos government, and a number of businesses and organizations in Taos.

  • Overview Thoughts: Rey will offer his observations on some of the unique relationships that Santa Fe real estate professionals have with Taos home buyers and sellers.
  • Taos Ski Valley Operations Report: John Kelly, Director of Mountain Operations at the Taos Ski Valley (TSV), will offer an update on what the mountain resort is doing to prepare for the start of winter ski season this month. John—who brings 14 years of experience in the ski industry—oversees a variety of functions at TSV, including ski patrol, grooming, snowmaking, lift maintenance, parking, risk management, and guest services. John will also offer his thoughts on what makes TSV a desirable destination—year-round—as well as what brought him to work in Taos. For information on TSV’s range of services, including the resort’s famous hotel, The Blake—please go to: https://www.skitaos.com/. In addition, TSV offers a highly-regarded Speaker Series program, with the aim of deepening and enhancing their guests’ understanding of Taos Ski Valley and the larger community. This program has invited over 40 organizations and individuals who make Taos “Taos.” From astronauts, to quartets, and anglers, each week the program is designed to teach a little more about what makes Taos unique, and how to keep it that way.
  • Taos Director of Marketing and Tourism Review: Joining Rey as a special guest on the show, is the Director of Marketing & Tourism for the Town of Taos, Ms. Karina Armijo, who will speak to the variety of attractions that make the town a special destination; why the town serves as a desirable destination for home buying; the multitude of activities the town offers to consumers this winter; as well as some background on her role as a member of the management team in Taos government. Chosen by Taos Town Manager Rick Bellis and Mayor Dan Barrone to fill the position of overseeing the town’s marketing and tourism activities, Karina is a well-respected professional who is characterized by the publication taoStyle as “very approachable, a good listener who holds the concerns of the community close to her heart.” An article in The Taos News offers some perspective on the approach that Karina takes in her work to promote all of the positive elements of Taos.

Leslie will also extend an invitation to people to take advantage of what is offered at TSV during the winter ski season. TSV is the first major ski resort to become a certified B Corp. This certification helps ensure that TSV meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, sustainability, public transparency and legal accountability. Becoming a B Corp also means that the long-held values of inclusion, sustainability, and respect for all are validated. TSV recognizes that Taos is a special place, and in the spirit of this sentiment, will continue on their path to get better, not bigger—with an invitation to all to join them on the incredible journey they are pursuing.
  • Strong at Heart and Taos MainStreet Update: In his second interview this year on the “This Is Taos” show series, Taos MainStreet Board President Jim Pollard will join Rey to update the audience on the important role that the Strong at Heart and Taos MainStreet initiatives are playing in the community. Strong at Heart is a project of the Town of Taos focused on working with Taoseños to create a vision for a thriving downtown for everyone. The goal of the project is to create a Taos Downtown Strategy, which communicates shared values, guiding principles, and a vision for the downtown, and includes an action-plan to get things done. Taos MainStreet is a community-based organization, formed to revitalize and update the downtown area of Taos. The program is part of a national foundation that helps states and local municipalities bring attention to main street districts in towns. In September, the nonprofit organization received its full MainStreet designation from state and federal programs. As a member of the Strong at Heart Management Team, Jim brings his experience as a retired General Contractor, former REALTOR, industrial engineer, machine designer, and entrepreneur to the initiative. Jim also serves as Chairman of the Town of Taos Planning and Zoning Commission.
